PRIVACY POLICY · EFFECTIVE 2026-04-26
What Topra knows, and what it doesn't.
Topra is an indoor bouldering logbook that lets you capture wall photos, mark holds, log climbs, and keep your climbing history in sync across devices. This policy explains what information Topra collects, how it is used, when it may be shared, and what choices you have.
1. Information Topra collects
Depending on how you use the app, Topra may collect and store:
- Account information: your email address, authentication provider information, and display name.
- Content you create: wall photos, hold overlays, grades, colors, names, notes, tags, ticks, sends, projects, follows, and related timestamps.
- Gym and location information: gyms you select or create and, if you grant permission, your device location to help show nearby gyms.
- Device-stored data: Topra stores data locally on your device so the app can work offline and sync later.
- Sync and security data: technical records needed to authenticate you, replay offline changes, prevent duplicate writes, and keep your account data consistent.
2. How Topra uses information
Topra uses information to:
- provide the app's core features, including capture, logging, syncing, and account access;
- store your climbing history and keep it available when you are offline;
- show nearby gyms and let users create missing gyms;
- display social and profile features, such as follower relationships, activity, and profile stats;
- operate photo storage and, where available, route matching or similar-problem suggestions;
- protect the service, investigate abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
3. What may be visible to others
Topra lets each climber choose whether their profile is public or private inside the app. Public profiles support discovery and social features; private profiles are hidden from those app surfaces by default.
- If you turn on a public profile, other signed-in Topra users may be able to find your display name, follower relationships, profile stats, recent sends, and the problems you create in the app.
- If you keep your profile private, Topra hides that information from profile search, profile pages, activity feeds, and problem discovery surfaces used by other signed-in users.
- Wall photo files are currently stored in a public-read storage bucket, which means the image file itself may still be accessible through its direct URL even when your profile is private. Changing the in-app privacy toggle does not revoke previously shared direct URLs.
- Gyms created in Topra are meant to be shared so other users can find and use them.
4. When Topra shares information
Topra may share information in the following situations:
- Service providers: with infrastructure and hosting providers that help run Topra, such as authentication, database, storage, and server-side processing providers.
- Sign-in providers: when you choose Sign in with Apple or Google, Topra receives information from those providers to authenticate your account.
- Other users: as described above for public or shared app features.
- Legal or safety reasons: if reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect users, the public, or Topra.
- Business transfers: if Topra is reorganized, sold, or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
Topra does not sell your personal information and is not built to track you across third-party apps or websites for advertising.
5. Data retention
Topra keeps personal information for as long as it is reasonably needed to operate the app, maintain your account, provide the features you use, resolve disputes, protect the service, and meet legal obligations.
Data stored locally on your device may remain there until you delete it in the app, delete your account, or remove the app from your device. When in-app account deletion succeeds, Topra deletes the auth account, account-linked records that cascade from it, and uploaded wall photos. If wall-photo cleanup cannot complete, the deletion request fails instead of partially deleting the account. Limited copies may remain for a period of time in backups, logs, caches, or other technical systems.
6. Your choices
- You can choose whether to grant location access. If you do not, nearby-gym features may be limited.
- You can edit certain account information, such as your display name, inside the app.
- You can switch your Topra profile between public and private inside the app. Private mode hides you from the app's discovery and social surfaces, but it does not make previously shared wall-photo URLs inaccessible.
- You can request account deletion using Topra's in-app delete-account feature. A successful deletion removes uploaded wall photos as part of the same server-side flow.
- You can stop using the app at any time, but some information may remain as described in this policy.
7. Security
Topra uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so Topra cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
Topra is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country to use the service without parental consent. If you believe a child provided personal information in violation of this policy, use the developer contact method listed for Topra in the app store listing to request review and deletion.
9. International processing
Topra and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. By using Topra, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in places where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this policy
Topra may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If the changes are material, Topra may provide additional notice inside the app or on the website. The "Effective date" above shows the date of the current version.
11. Contact
For privacy questions, data requests, or account-deletion help, use the developer contact method listed for Topra in the applicable app store listing or on the official Topra website.
